Australia Post domestic prices effective 1 July 2026 (auspost.com.au). Parcels over 5kg without flat-rate packaging, and international postage, are priced by the official AusPost calculator and not covered here. A further letter price rise is under ACCC consultation — check auspost.com.au for the latest. How we calculate →
Domestic letter and stamp prices (from 1 July 2026)
A standard letter (up to 250g) needs one A$1.70 stamp. A large letter up to 125g needs two stamps (A$3.40 total), and a large letter 125g–250g needs three (A$5.10).
A Priority letter is A$2.70 in total: the A$1.70 base stamp plus a A$1.00 priority label. Concession card holders pay A$0.60 per stamp (booklets of 5, capped at 75 a year) and seasonal greeting card stamps are A$0.65 — both unchanged by the 1 July 2026 update per the ACCC's consultation notice.
Parcel Post: satchel included vs postage only
Australia Post sells prepaid satchels/boxes where packaging is included in the price, or you can use your own packaging and pay postage only — which is always slightly cheaper. For a Small parcel (355 x 225mm), postage-only is A$11.70 versus A$12.05 for the AusPost satchel — a A$0.35 saving if you already have a suitable box or bag.
The five Parcel Post sizes run from Extra Small (280 x 215mm) at A$10.20 postage-only, up to Extra Large (510 x 440mm) at A$24.45. Use the dimensions to pick the smallest size your item actually fits — oversizing costs real money across thousands of parcels.
Express Post: how much extra for next-business-day?
Express Post uses the same five prepaid sizes but guarantees next-business-day delivery to most of the network. On a Medium parcel that's A$20.00 versus A$16.00 for standard Parcel Post — A$4.00 more (about 25%). The gap is proportionally similar across sizes: Express typically costs 25%–35% more than standard Parcel Post postage-only pricing.
Choose Express when the deadline matters more than the extra few dollars; choose standard Parcel Post for anything that isn't time-critical.
What this calculator doesn't cover
Parcels over 5kg (up to 22kg) that don't use flat-rate prepaid packaging are priced by weight/zone via the official Australia Post calculator — not a static published grid, so not covered here. Express Post 'packaging + postage included' combo pricing was not separately published; only Express postage-only flat rates are covered. International postage is not covered by this tool. A further letter price increase is under ACCC public consultation (closed 22 June 2026) — re-check this page if a new stamp price is confirmed.
